Toastmasters Education Tracks

The Education Program is divided into two tracks. Members may participate in both tracks at the same time, they are not mutually exclusive. The chart below summarizes the two tracks.

The Communication Track
This track is dedicated to improving speaking and listening skills. The core of the communication track is the Communication and Leadership Program manual (aka the "Basic Manual"), which contains 10 speech projects. Every new member is sent the basic manual and three other manuals: Your Speaking Voice, Effective Speech Evaluation, and Gestures: Your Body Speaks.

The Leadership Track
This track focuses on development of leadership skills through a variety of club activities. You can serve as a Club leader, developing skills in planning, training, motivating, and managing. You even can become a District leader, where these skills are further enhanced. You also can participate in the "High Performance Leadership" program which requires you to conduct a project of your choice in which you serve as a leader. The program provides study material and activities to complete.

New members will receive membership kits containing the following manuals:

Competent Leader (CL) Award
Achieve CC
Serve as club officer
Participate in Club Success Plan
Attend Club Officer Training
Conduct two Successful Club programs

Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB) Award
Achieve CC
Complete two advanced manuals

Advanced Communicator Silver (ACS) Award
Achieve ACB
Complete two additional advanced manuals
Conduct two Better Speaker or Successful Club programs

Advanced Leader (AL) Award
Achieve CL
Serve as district officer
Complete High Performance Leadership program
Serve as Club Sponsor, Club Mentor, or Club Specialist

Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG) Award
Achieve ACS
Complete two additional advanced manuals
Coordinate Success/Leadership, Success/Communication, or Youth Leadership program.
Coach a new member with his/her first three speeches.

Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Award
Achieve Advanced Communicator Gold (ACG)
Achieve Advanced Leader (AL)
